Winter
The winter in St.-Petersburg begins a little later, than in other regions of our Native land. Only to the beginning of December the lowered temperature is established, the snow cover slightly wraps up streets and at home, and the most thin as the Venetian glass, ice holds down the rivers and channels.

The winter period of time here can be characterised as rather soft, but frequently – whimsical and changeable. It is caused first of all by influence of the sea air weights brought by the western and southwest winds from ocean Atlantiche-skogo and Baltic sea. Therefore so often plentiful snowfalls are replaced by a rain and a fog, and the short cold periods when the temperature reaches-12 °s, alternate with the thaw adjusting a column of the thermometer to zero, and even to pljusovoj to a mark. As the coldest months in Peter January and February by right are considered. On the average the winter temperature fluctuates from-8 to-10,3 °s. However, in exclusive go-dy, the minimum temperatures can reach-40°S. So, for example, there was in the winter of 2005 when the bitter colds which have artfully captured almost all territory of Russia, have not avoided also a hero town on Neva, and Peter just as many other cities froze from sorokogradusnyh frosts. The termination of winter comes imperceptibly, is closer to the middle of March. It is necessary to mention that last years the tendency of reduction of average duration of winter in Petersburg for three weeks is observed. This fact is marked by the rector of Gosu-donative hydrometeorological university Lvom Karlinym who considers that temperature shifts are caused by activity of the person, frequently leading itself hotbed gases in atmosphere.
Spring
The spring in Peter comes so imperceptibly, as well as the winter – a silent gait and on tsypkah leaves. Approximately since March, 17th days when the temperature not opus-repents any more below a zero mark start to appear. The snow covering a city, starts to thaw gradually, proli-vajas on passers-by from roofs of houses last tears of leaving winter. It is impossible to name Petersburg spring bright ¸ dizzy, with stunning blue of the sky or with pierce-telno-soaring spring air. By no means, here for spring days slush, a dirt, streams of streams, a heavy wind, the is dirty-grey sky, through which clouds hardly prori-sovyvajutsja sun contours is characteristic. The slanting rain often replaced small, similar to groats, snow drizzles. Improbable this snow krupka carelessly flies downwind, falls on the expert-falt and unwillingly thaws, bringing the mite in a dampness and impassability of roads overall picture.

Nevertheless, not too affable spring weather, at all does not sadden a spirit-nie of townspeople. On the contrary, arrival of spring allows a good occasion suit a holiday and city guljanija. In the middle of March Petersburgers traditionally celebrate the Pancake week and burn a chu-forehead of winter. Intrigues of winter cannot prevent this ancient pagan holiday even, to-toraja tries to prevent the wires the last moroztsami. Jokes of buffoons, yokes-rishcha, round dances, hot pancakes and warming drinks do the part – a holiday proho-dit cheerfully and amicably. The action culmination, namely – burning of stuffed animals, and at all vstre-chaetsja all enthusiastically, after all besides a beautiful show, it is possible also to get warm from on-lyhajushchih fires.

The peak of a spring thaw is necessary for April. By this time warming becomes already obvious, after all the thermometer with confidence shows +3,5 +4°C, and returning of birds from the warm countries eloquently speaks about the introduction of spring into the legitimate rights. The sun, however, appears yet often, basically April days are accompanied a pass-murnostju, a fog and rains. Only by May, by a month which is considered most attractive of all spring, the sky clears up a little, and sun rays start to caress slightly frowned and got tired of pools and slush a city. The beginning of May usually  an ice drift when Neva sleeping under ice and Ladoga lake are opened, and are filled with the numerous small icebergs which are going down stream. It on-trjasajushchee a show in itself is sight of Petersburg spring. By the end of May on trees there are young goffered leaflets, on lawns the grass starts to turn green and to blossom the first spring flowers – snowdrops, crocuses, narcissuses, tjulpa th. The thunder-storms which are not seldom accompanying May, definitively wash off a dirt and a dust, having collected in a city since the autumn. And here St.-Petersburg, in all beauty is ready to the most unique and magic period which begins with arrival of summer – by the White nights!
Summer
The summer comes to St.-Petersburg with the beginning of June. By this time the nature definitively wakes up from hibernation, and violence of paints reaches the apogee. The summer season is characterised here as moderately warm, times even the cool. On the average the summer temperature of Petersburg fluctuates from +16 to +25°C, however recently the hot periods when the thermometer shows +30, and sometimes and +32°C are frequent. Nevertheless, the heat keeps not long, as a rule, no more weeks. Under the influence of Atlantic and Baltic the raised humidity of air does not leave a city and in the summer, and rains and thunder-storms act in a role of the integral attribute of summer days. Therefore the umbrella always should be on  both at Petersburgers, and at visitors of northern capital.

Best summer month in Petersburg fairly it is considered June. Thanks to  northern arrangement the city possesses such surprising phenomenon, as White nights when the evening dawn converges with the morning. White nights are named because even during the most dark time June night is so light that reminds twilight morning more. Such surprising natural phenomenon is observed in both hemispheres of our planet at the widths exceeding 60 ° when at midnight the Sun centre falls under horizon not bo-lee than on 7 °. Vlastvovanie the White nights in Peter lasts all the June long, up to the beginning june-july. Whether It is necessary to say, what magic of the White nights gives the most unforgettable feelings? During this time St.-Petersburg seems especially majestic and fine. Having visited at such night on quay of the river of Neva, having made on river  water walk on channels, or simply having observed night cultivation of bridges, it is impossible buy precious, with what not comparable memories.

Autumn
The autumn in Peter quietly replaces summer. September as usual costs warm, as though for continuing a summer life of a city a few. As well as many other Russian cities, St.-Petersburg it is beautiful in the autumn extraordinary. Especially in silent September solar weather when bright golden-amber leaves yet have not flown from trees, but already in before fast falling off with watchfulness tremble with each whiff of a wind. Here really fine it is time, «eyes ocharovane» how great Pushkin wrote, whether the Petersburg autumn has inspired him these lines?

With approach of October weather gradually worsens, the temperature begins getting low, and by the end of month and at all there are first bulletins of coming nearer winter – frosts. Occasionally in November the first snow, but its life expectancy not a ve-face drops out, after all by this time the winter yet has not won fight with an autumn that is why the snowball thaws, turning to droplets of tears on and so wet asphalt.

The sredne-autumn temperature of Petersburg fluctuates from +4,3 to 0°C. Only more close to de-kabrju, by winter month, the thermometer column starts to show lowered temperature.
